Part I - 當信的道理

小引 Introduction:

1. 問: 你為什麼生在世上？

   Ｑ: Why are we in this world?

   答: 為恭敬天主，救自己的靈魂。 (谷 8:36)

   Ａ: We are in this world to worship God and to save our souls. (Mk 8:36)

2. 問: 什麼是恭敬天主？

   Ｑ: What do you mean by "to worship God"?

   答: 就是認識、愛慕、事奉天主。 (若 17:3；谷 12:30；瑪 7:21)

   Ａ: To worship God means to know, love and serve Him. (Jn 17:3; Mk 12:30; Mt 7:21)

3. 問: 什麼是救靈魂？

   Ｑ: What do you mean by "to save your souls"?

   答: 就是死後免下地獄，得升天堂。 (瑪 18:8-9)

   Ａ: To save our souls means to avoid Hell and to enter Heaven after death. (Mt 18:8-9)

4. 問: 該甚麼樣恭敬天主？

   Ｑ: How should you worship God?

   答: 該奉天主所立的聖教，全信天主傳示的道理，遵守天主所立的誡命，善用天主所定得神恩的法子。 (瑪 28:18-20；路 10:16；希 11:6)

   Ａ: I should worship God by: entering the religion which He has founded; firmly believing all His doctrines; keeping His commandments; using well all His means of obtaining grace. (Mt 28:18-20; Lk 10:16; Heb 11:6)

天主 God:

5. 問: 你信天主嗎？

   Ｑ: Do you believe in God?

   答: 信天主。

   Ａ: I believe in God.

6. 問: 天主是誰？

   Ｑ: Who is God?

   答: 造天地、造神人、造萬物的真主宰。 (哥 1:16-17)

   Ａ: God is the Creator and True Lord of Heaven and earth, of the angels, of men, and of all things. (Col 1:16-17)

7. 問: 天主是神不是神？

   Ｑ: Is God a spirit?

   答: 是無形無像的純神。 (若 4:24)

   Ａ: God is a pure spirit, that is, He has no body. (Jn 4:24)

8. 問: 天主是怎麼樣有的？

    

   Ｑ: How does God exist?

   答: 天主是無始無終，是自有的。 （默 1:8；3:14）

   Ａ: God exists of Himself, without beginning and without end. (Rev 1:8; 3:14)

9. 問: 天主有甚麼美善福樂？

   Ｑ: Is God good and happy?

   答: 有萬萬美善，萬萬福樂。 （智 13:3）

   Ａ: God is infinitely good and happy. (Wis 13:3)

10. 問: 天主在那裡？

    Ｑ: Where is God?

    答: 無所不在，處處都在。 （詠 138:7-10）

    Ａ: God is everywhere. (Ps 138:7-10)

11. 問: 樣樣的事情，天主都知道麼？

    Ｑ: Does God know all things?

    答: 全知道：無論過去的，現在的，將來的事情，連人心裡隱密的情念，天主都知道。 （德 42:19-20；希 4:13）

    Ａ: God knows all things: past, present, and future including the most secret thoughts of the heart. (Sir 42:19-20; Heb 4:13)

12. 問: 天主是全能的麼？

    Ｑ: Is God powerful?

    答: 是全能的：天主願意什麼，一命就成。 （詠 134:6；路 1:37）

    Ａ: God is all-powerful; He can do whatever He wishes. (Ps 134:6; Lk 1:37)

13. 問: 天主是全善的麼？

    Ｑ: Is God infinitely good?

    答: 是全善的：喜歡一切的善事，厭惡一切的惡事。 （肋 19:1-2；詠 5:5）

    Ａ: God is infinitely good; He loves what is good and hates what is evil. (Lev 19:1-2; Ps 5:5)

14. 問: 天主是至公義的麼？

    Ｑ: Is God infinitely just?

    答: 是至公義的：有善必賞，有惡必罰，不在生前，必在死後。 （多 3:2；瑪 10:42）

    Ａ: God is infinitely just; He rewards every good work, and punishes every evil, if not in this life, then surely in the next. (Tb 3:2; Mt 10:42)

15. 問: 天主是至仁慈的麼？

    Ｑ: Is God infinitely merciful?

    答: 是至仁慈的：凡真心悔過的罪人，天主都樂意寬赦。 （詠 102:8；路 15）

    Ａ: God is infinitely merciful; He gladly forgives all who are truly sorry for their sins. (Ps 102:8; Lk 15)

三位一體 The Blessed Trinity:

16. 問: 天主有幾個？

    Ｑ: How many Gods are there?

    答: 只有一個。（谷 12:29；申 4:35）

    Ａ: There is only one God. (Mk 12:29; Dt 4:35)

17. 問: 一個天主包含有幾位？

    Ｑ: How many Persons are there in God?

    答: 有三位。 （瑪 28:19；若 14:16-17）

    Ａ: There are three Persons in God. (Mt 28:19; Jn 14:16-17)

18. 問: 三位叫什麼名字？

    Ｑ: What are these three Persons called?

    答: 第一位叫聖父，第二位叫聖子，第三位叫聖神。 （瑪 28:19）

    Ａ: The first Person is called the Father, the second the Son, the third the Holy Spirit. (Mt 28:19)

19. 問: 三位有大小先後的分別麼？

    Ｑ: Is any one of the three Divine Persons greater than or above the others?

    答: 無大無小，無先無後，三位共是一性、一體、一個天主。 （若 5:18；格前 3:16）

    Ａ: The three Divine Persons are equal in all things, being one Nature, one Substance, one God. (Jn 5:18; 1Cor 3:16)

20. 問: 這樣三位就沒有分別了麼？

    Ｑ: Is there then no difference between the three Divine Persons?

    答: 論體沒有分別，論位各有分別。

    Ａ: In their Divine nature, there is no difference between them; but as a person, each differs from the others.

造成天地 Creation:

21. 問: 怎麼說天主造成天地呢？

    Ｑ: Why do you say that God created heaven and earth?

    答: 因為天地萬物，都是天主從無中一命就有的。 （創 1:1-27）

    Ａ: Because God made heaven and earth and all things out of nothing, by His word only. (Gen 1:1-27)

22. 問: 天主為什麼造成天地萬物呢？

    Ｑ: Why did God make heaven and earth and all things?

    答: 為發顯自己的光榮，又為相幫人恭敬天主，救靈魂。 （詠 18:2；德17:7-8）

    Ａ: God made heaven and earth and all things to manifest His glory, and to help men to worship Him and to save their souls. (Ps 18:2; Sir 17:7-8)

23. 問: 天主造了萬物，還須天主保存嗎？

    Ｑ: After God had made all things, do they still need Him to conserve them?

    答: 還須天主保存，頃刻不能間斷。 （宗 17:28）

    Ａ: Yes, all creatures need God to conserve them always without a moment's interruption. (Acts 17:28)

24. 問: 天主也掌握天地麼？

    Ｑ: Does God also rule heaven and earth?

    答: 不單天地，凡世界的萬事萬物，人類的生死禍福，都由天主掌管。 （瑪 6:26-30; 瑪 10:29-31; 瑪 5:45）

    Ａ: God rules not only heaven and earth, but all things in the world, man's life and death, his joys and sorrows. (Mt 6:26-30; Mt 10:29-31; Mt 5:45)

天神 The Angels:

25. 問: 天主造的萬物當中，什麼是最尊貴的？

    Ｑ: Which are the noblest beings God has made?

    答: 天神和世人是最尊貴的。 （哥 1:16-17）

    Ａ: Angels and men are the noblest beings which God has made. (Col 1:16-17)

26. 問: 天神的本性是怎麼樣的？

    Ｑ: What is an angel?

    答: 是無形無像的，不死不滅的神體，聰明才能都是奇妙的。 （伯後 2:11；路 1:11）

    Ａ: An angel is a spirit without a body; he cannot die or perish, and he has wonderful intelligence and power. (2P 2:11; Lk 1:11)

27. 問: 天神受造後，立刻得了天堂麼？

    Ｑ: Did the angels go to heaven immediately after being created?

    答: 沒有，天主願意他們先立功勞，然後才賞他們升天堂。

    Ａ: No, God wished them to merit before entering heaven.

28. 問: 所有的天神都立了功勞麼？

    Ｑ: Did all the angels merit Heaven?

    答: 沒有，其中一部份生了驕傲，妄想同天主相比。 （伯後 2:4）

    Ａ: No, some of them wickedly desired to be equal to God, and fell into the sin of pride. (2P 2:4)

29. 問: 天主怎麼樣罰了他們？

    Ｑ: How did God punish them?

    答: 罰他們下了地獄，變成醜陋的魔鬼。 （猶 6）

    Ａ: God punished them by sending them to Hell, and they were changed into hideous devils. (Jude 6)

30. 問: 立了功勞的天神得了什麼賞？

    Ｑ: What reward did the good angels gain?

    答: 得了天堂，常見天主，永享萬福。 （瑪 18:10）

    Ａ: They gained Heaven; they see God always and enjoy eternal happiness. (Mt 18:10)

護守天神 Our Guardian Angels:

31. 問: 什麼是護守天神？

    Ｑ: Who is our guardian angel?

    答: 是天主所派的天神，為保護世人靈魂肉身，一生不離。 （瑪 18:10；多 12:12；希 1:14）

    Ａ: Our guardian angel is the angel sent by God to protect us in body and soul during our whole life. (Mt 18:10; Tb 12:12; Heb 1:14)

32. 問: 我們對於護守天神有什麼本分？

    Ｑ: What is our duty towards our guardian angel?

    答: 該敬愛、感謝他，在危險的時候，該依靠、呼求他。

    Ａ: We should honour, love and thank him; and when we are in danger, we should call on him and trust him.

原祖父母 Our First Parents:

33. 問: 誰是人類的原祖？

    Ｑ: Who were the first parents of all mankind?

    答: 亞當、厄娃二人，是人類的原祖。 （創 2:18-24）

    Ａ: The first parents of all mankind were Adam and Eve. (Gen 2:18-24)

34. 問: 天主怎麼樣造了原祖？

    Ｑ: How did God make our first parents?

    答: 天主給他們造了一個肉身，又賦給他們一個靈魂。 （創 2:7；創 1:27）

    Ａ: God made their bodies, and gave them souls. (Gen 2:7; Gen 1:27)

35. 問: 靈魂是什麼？

    Ｑ: What is a soul?

    答: 是無形無像，不死不滅，與肉身給合的神體。 （訓 12:7；瑪 10:28）

    Ａ: A soul is a spirit which is united to the body; it has no form or shape, and cannot die or perish. (Ecl 12:7; Mt 10:28)

36. 問: 靈魂肉身那樣尊重？

    Ｑ: Which is the more noble, the soul or the body?

    答: 靈魂是天主的肖像，比肉身尊貴萬倍，人即使得了天下的萬福，也不可喪失靈魂。 （谷 8:36-37）

    Ａ: The soul is made to the image and likeness of God, and is infinitely more precious than the body. So we must not lose our soul even if we could thus gain all earthly happiness. (Mk 8:36-37)

37. 問: 天主賞了原祖什麼另外的恩典？

    Ｑ: What special gifts did God give to our first parents?

    答: 賞了他們寵愛，得做天主的義子，安置他們在地堂裡，私慾憂苦一概全無，長生不死，末後，靈魂肉身同升天堂。 （羅 5:19；羅 5:12；創 3:17-19；創 3:7）

    Ａ: God gave them sanctifying grace which made them children of God. He placed them in the garden of Paradise where they were free of all concupiscence and sorrow. They were to enjoy a long life. In the end without dying they were to ascend body and soul into Heaven. (Rom 5:19; Rom 5:12; Gen 3:17-19; Gen 3:7)

38. 問: 這些恩典，天主單賞了原祖二人麼？

    Ｑ: Did God give these gifts to our first parents only?

    答: 不單賞了原祖二人，也願意他們傳與後代子孫。

    Ａ: God not only gave these gifts to our first parents, but intended that they should transmit them to their descendants.

39. 問: 我們為什麼沒得這些恩典呢？

    Ｑ: Why then have we not got these gifts?

    答: 因為我們的原祖違背了天主的命，順了魔鬼的誘惑，吃了禁果，犯了大罪。 （創 2:16-17；創 3:1-6）

    Ａ: Because our first parents disobeyed God, yielded to the temptations of the devil, ate the forbidden fruit and committed mortal sin. (Gen 2:16-17; Gen 3:1-6)

40. 問: 什麼是原罪？

    答: 就是原祖背天主命令的罪，遺留到我們身上，就叫原罪。 （羅 5:12-19）

    Ａ: Original sin is the sin of disobedience committed by our fist parents, and inherited by us, their descendants. (Rom 5:12-19)

    答: 不僅原祖被天主趕出地堂，失了一切超性的恩典，而且我們一生到世上，就都沒有天主的寵愛，並遭受私慾偏情，死亡痛苦，及別的一切禍患。 （創 3:19；創 3:23-24；羅 5:12；創 8:21）

    Ａ: Our first parents were driven of Paradise. They were deprived of all their supernatural gifts. We also now come into the world without God's sanctifying grace. Concupiscence, suffering, death and all other miseries have become our part. (Gen 3:19; Gen 3:23-24; Rom 5:12; Gen 8:21)

42. 問: 眾人都染原罪麼？

    Ｑ: Have all men inherited original sin?

    答: 除了聖母以外，眾人都染原罪。 （創 3:15；羅 5:19）

    Ａ: All men have inherited original sin, with the exception of the Blessed Virgin. (Gen 3:15; Rom 5:19)

43. 問: 天主見人受了原罪的害，沒有發慈悲的心麼？

    Ｑ: Seeing mankind afflicted by original sin, did God not show His mercy?

    答: 大發了慈悲的心，當時就許下將來要救贖人類，使人再得升天堂的盼望。 （創 3:15）

    Ａ: God showed great mercy, for He immediately promised that He would later redeem mankind, and thus He restored to man the hope of gaining Heaven. (Gen 3:15)

天主降生 The Incarnation:

44. 問: 天主怎樣來救贖人類？

    Ｑ: How did God come to redeem mankind?

    答: 天主第二位聖子降生成人。 （瑪 1:20-21；若 3:16-17）

    Ａ: God the Son, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, became incarnate and was made man. (Mt 1:20-21; Jn 3:16-17)

45. 問: 「降生」二字有什麼意思？

    Ｑ: What does "became incarnate" mean?

    答: 就是說：天主第二位取了人性，同自己的天主性給合，成了一位。 （路 1:30-35；若 1:14；羅 9:5）

    Ａ: It means that God the Son, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, took to Himself a human nature and united it in His own Person to His Divine nature. (Lk 1:30-35; Jn 1:14; Rom 9:5)

46. 問: 天主降生了叫什麼名字？

    Ｑ: What is the name of the God-made-man?

    答: 叫「耶穌」，解說救世者，又叫「基利斯督」或「基督」，解說品位至尊貴者。 （瑪 1:25; 路 1:31-33）

    Ａ: The name of the God-made-man is Jesus which means "Saviour", and He is also called Christ, which is explained as "Most Exalted in Dignity". (Mt 1:25; Lk 1:31-33)

47. 問: 耶穌是天主麼？

聖母瑪利亞卒世童貞 The Mother of God, Mary Ever Virgin:

53. 問: 天主怎麼樣降生？

    Ｑ: How did God become man?

    答: 揀選童貞瑪利亞為母降生。 （路 1:26-38）

    Ａ: God became man by choosing the Virgin Mary to be His Mother. (Lk 1:26-38)

54. 問: 童貞女怎麼樣生耶穌呢？

    Ｑ: How was it possible for a virgin to give birth to Jesus?

    答: 因天主聖神的全能，以聖母的淨血成胎，礙不著聖母的童貞。 （路 1:26-38；瑪 1:18-25）

    Ａ: Through the infinite power of God the Holy Spirit, Jesus was conceived in the most pure womb of His Blessed Mother without harm to Her virginity. (Lk 1:26-38; Mt 1:18-25)

耶穌的行實 The Life of Jesus:

55. 問: 耶穌在那裡誕生？

    Ｑ: Where was Jesus born?

    答: 在猶大白冷郡，很貧寒的光景裡誕生；因為耶穌願意從一入世，就補贖我們的罪，又為叫人輕看世物。 （路 2:1-7）

    Ａ: Jesus was born in the village of Bethlehem in Judea. He was born in great poverty because from the beginning of His life on earth He wished to do penance for our sins and to teach us to be detached from things of this world. (Lk 2:1-7)

56. 問: 耶穌怎麼過了幼年的時候？

    Ｑ: How did Jesus pass His childhood?

    答: 隱居納匝肋，聽聖母聖約瑟的命，立孝順勤勞的美表。 （路 2:39-40；路 2:51-52）

    Ａ: Jesus led a hidden life in Nazareth. He was obedient to His Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, setting a beautiful example of diligence and filial piety. (Lk 2:39-40; Lk 2:51-52)

    答: 出外傳教，講了天國的道理，立了各樣德行的表樣，又顯示了許多聖蹟，證明自己是天主聖子，是天主預許的救世者。 （路 3:23）

    Ａ: He went out to preach. He spoke of the kingdom of heaven, and gave an example of ever virtue. He also worked many miracles prove that He was the Son of God and the Redeemer promised by God. (Lk 3:23)

耶穌苦難 The Passion:

58. 問: 耶穌怎麼樣救贖了眾人的罪？

    Ｑ: How did Jesus atone for the sins of men?

    答: 甘心受苦受難，被釘十字架上死。 （瑪 27:33-50；鐸 2:14）

    Ａ: Jesus atoned for the sins of men by accepting His Passion willingly, and by dying nailed to a cross. (Mt 27:33-50; Tit 2:14)

59. 問: 無始無終的天主，怎麼能受苦受難呢？

    Ｑ: How was it possible for the eternal God to suffer and die?

    答: 因為耶穌不僅有天主性，也有人性，故此能受苦受難。 （瑪 26:38；若 4:6；瑪 4:2； 瑪 8:24）

    Ａ: Jesus could suffer and die because He is not only God but also man. (Mt 26:38; Jn 4:6; Mt 4:2; Mt 8:24)

60. 問: 耶穌死後，肉身埋葬了沒有？

耶穌復活升天 The Resurrection and Ascension:

63. 問: 耶穌死後，復活了沒有？

    Ｑ: Did Jesus return to life again after His death?

    答: 死後第三日，從死者之中，自己復活了。 （谷 16:6；路 9:21-22）

    Ａ: Jesus raised Himself to life again from the dead on the third day after His death. (Mk 16:6; Lk 9:21-22)

64. 問: 耶穌升天了沒有？

    Ｑ: Did Jesus ascend into Heaven?

67. 問: 耶穌升天去了，還來不來？

    Ｑ: Will Jesus return to this world again, since He left it at the time of His Ascension into Heaven?

    答: 日後世界窮盡，還從天上降來。 （瑪 24:30）

    Ａ: Jesus will come down again from Heaven at the end of the world. (Mt 24:30)

68. 問: 降來做什麼？

    Ｑ: Why will Jesus come again?

聖神降臨 The Descent of the Holy Spirit:

69. 問: 耶穌升天的時候，許了宗徒們什麼大恩？

    答: 許下聖神降臨。 （宗 1:4-5）

    Ａ: He promised that He would send down the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:4-5)

    答: 耶穌升天後第十日，天主聖神藉猛風的聲，火舌的形，顯然降臨了。 （宗 2:1-4）

    Ａ: The Holy Spirit came down visibly ten days after the ascension of Jesus into Heaven. He descended with the sound of a great wind and in the form of tongues of fire. (Acts 2:1-4)

72. 問: 聖神降臨的時候，賞了宗徒們什麼的恩典？

    Ｑ: When the Holy Spirit came down from Heaven, what gifts did He bestow on the Apostles?

    答: 堅固宗徒們的心，賞了他們富裕的恩寵，使能宣佈耶穌的道理，傳揚聖教於普世。 （宗 2:14）

73. 問: 天主聖神也在信友的心中麼？

聖教會 The Holy Catholic Church:

聖教會的統制 The Government of the Church:

    Ａ: The invisible head of the Church is Jesus, the Son of God; the visible head of the Church is the Pope, the successor of St. Peter. (Mt 28:20; Mt 21:15-17)

    答: 教宗若用自己為聖教首領的權柄，教訓天下的教友，論斷當信的道理，當守的規矩，萬不能錯。

    Ａ: The Pope cannot err whenever he uses his power as head of the Church to instruct all the faithful by defining a doctrine concerning faith or morals.

81. 問: 為什麼不能錯？

    Ｑ: Why cannot the Pope err?

    答: 因為是耶穌自許的，天主聖神又常保護默佑。 （路 22:31-32；瑪 16:18）

    Ａ: The Pope cannot err, because Jesus Himself has promised this, and besides, God the Holy Spirit constantly protects and assists him. (Lk 22:31-32; Mt 16:18)

82. 問: 聖教會各級的人，彼此有什麼本分？

    答: 教友該聽神父的教訓，神父該聽主教的教訓，主教該聽教宗的教訓，這樣彼此聯合，按吾主耶穌的話，同歸一棧，共屬一牧。 （若 10:16）

    Ａ: The faithful should obey their priests, the priests should obey their bishops, the bishops should obey the Pope. By this mutual union as our Lord Jesus Christ has said, they all become one fold under one Shepherd. (Jn 10:16)

諸聖相通功 The Communion of Saints:

    Ａ: All members of the Church are in communion with each other. If I do some good work, others have a share in it; if others do good works, I have a share in them. (Eph 2:18-22; 1Tim 2:1-2; Jas 5:16)

    答: 不能全相通功：若妥當告解了，或發了上等痛悔，又能全相通功。

    Ａ: Those who have committed mortal sin are not in full communion with the other members of the Church; but if they make a good confession, or make an act of perfect contrition they enter once more into full communion.

聖教會有赦罪的權柄 The Church has Power of Forgiving Sins:

    Ａ: The Church has power to forgive sins. (Jn 20:21-23)

    答: 一在授洗的時候，一在解罪的時候。

    Ａ: Sins are forgiven in Baptism and in Penance.

    答: 沒有，因為天主耶穌，把赦罪的權柄，只交了自己立的聖教會。 （瑪 17:18-19）

    Ａ: No other religious bodies have power to forgive sins, for Jesus the Son of God gave the power only to the Holy Catholic Church which He Himself has founded. (Mt 17:18-19)

萬民四末 The Four Last Things:

    Ａ: The Four Last Things are Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell.

    答: 能警醒自己，躲避罪過。

    Ａ: By thinking of the Four Last Things we can take warning to avoid sin.

私審判 The Particular Judgment:

    答: 有兩樣：就是私審判，公審判。

    Ａ: There are two kinds, the Particular Judgment and the General Judgment.

91. 問: 什麼是私審判呢？

    Ｑ: What is the Particular Judgment?

    答: 人的靈魂一離了肉身，就獨自到了天主台前，聽審判，有功的受賞，有罪的受罰。 （德 11:28-29；希 9:27；格後 5:8-10）

    Ａ: The Particular Judgment is the judgment which takes place immediately after death. As soon as soul leaves the body, it goes alone before God's Throne to be judged. If it has merit, that is, if it is in the state of grace it is rewarded; if it is in sin, it is punished. (Sir 11:28-29; Heb 9:27; 2Cor 5:8-10)

    Ｑ: Where does the soul go after the Particular Judgment?

    答: 有大罪的下地獄；有寵愛，又沒有小罪和罪罰的升天堂；有寵愛，尚有小罪或罪罰的下煉獄。

    Ａ: If the soul is in mortal sin, it goes down to Hell. If it has sanctifying grace and is free from venial sin and from all punishment due to sin, it goes to Heaven; if it has sanctifying grace but is not free from venial sin or from punishment due to sin, it goes to Purgatory.

肉身復活 The Resurrection of the Body:

    答: 天地終窮的時候，死過的眾人，一齊復活。 （格前 15:51-53）

    Ａ: All the dead will rise again on the last day. (1Cor 15:51-53)

    Ｑ: What gifts will the bodies of the just have after they rise again?

    答: 得四大奇恩：就是神光、神速、神透、神健。 （格前 15:42-44）

    Ａ: They will have four wonderful gifts: brightness, agility, subtility and impassibility. (1Cor 15:42-44)

    答: 同善人大不一樣，十分醜陋，十分污穢。

    Ａ: They will be quite different from the bodies of the just; they will be very ugly and filthy.

公審判 The General Judgment:

    答: 都到天主台前聽公審判。

    Ａ: They will go before God's Throne for the General Judgment.

97. 問: 什麼是公審判呢？

    Ｑ: What is the General Judgment?

    答: 天主耶穌在眾人面前，審判各人的善工罪過：善者靈魂肉身同升天堂，享無窮之樂；惡者靈魂肉身同下地獄，受無窮之苦。 （瑪 25:31-46）

    Ａ: The General Judgment is the judgment, which will take place at the end of the world. Jesus our God in the presence of all mankind will pronounce judgment on every man's works. The just will ascend body and soul into Heaven to enjoy eternal happiness; the wicked will go down with body and soul into Hell to endure everlasting torments. (Mt 25:31-46)

天堂 Heaven:

98. 問: 天堂是什麼？

    答: 是天主和天使聖人永遠享福的所在。 （瑪 25:34）

    Ａ: Heaven is the place where God with the angels and saints enjoys everlasting happiness. (Mt 25:34)

99. 問: 善人在天堂上，享什麼福樂？

    Ｑ: What happiness do the just enjoy in Heaven?

    答: 善人在天堂享見天主，同吾主耶穌、童貞聖母瑪利亞、及一切天使聖人，永享萬福萬樂，再無絲毫困苦，畏懼擾亂。 （格前 13:12-13；格前 2:9）

    Ａ: The just in Heaven rejoice in seeing God. Together with our Lord Jesus Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the angels and saints, they enjoy all happiness, without the slightest pain, fear or trouble. (1Cor 13:12-13; 1Cor 2:9)

地獄 Hell:

100. 問: 地獄是什麼？

     Ｑ: What is Hell?

     答: 是魔鬼及惡人永遠受苦的所在。 （瑪 25:41；得後 1:8-9）

     Ａ: Hell is the place where the devils and wicked men suffer for all eternity. (Mt 25:41; 2Thes 1:8-9)

101. 問: 惡人在地獄裡受什麼苦？

     Ｑ: What pains do the wicked suffer in Hell?

     答: 惡人在地獄裡永遠不能見天主；同魔鬼一齊受烈火及別的各樣痛苦。 （瑪 25:41；谷 9:45-48；路 13:28）

     Ａ: The wicked in Hell are shut out forever from seeing God. Together with the devils they suffer burning fires and every kind of torment. (Mt 25:41; Mk 45-48; Lk 13:28)

煉獄 Purgatory:

102. 問: 煉獄是什麼？

     Ｑ: What is Purgatory?

     答: 是人死後，煉淨靈魂，做補贖受暫罰的所在。 （加下 12:39-46；瑪 12:32；格前 3:10-15）

     Ａ: Purgatory is a place where the souls of men are purified after death; they do penance there and endure temporal punishment. (2Mac 12:39-46; Mt 12:32; 1Cor 3:10-15)

103. 問: 煉獄裡有什麼苦？

     Ｑ: What pains do the souls in Purgatory suffer?

     答: 就是暫時不得見天主的聖容，不得享天堂的福樂以外，靈魂還得受別的苦。

     Ａ: The souls in Purgatory are shut out temporarily from seeing God. They do not enjoy the happiness of Heaven and have to endure other sufferings also.

104. 問: 煉獄靈魂什麼時候可以出來？

     Ｑ: When do the souls come out of Purgatory?

     答: 罪罰補贖完了，就可以出來。

     Ａ: The souls come out of Purgatory when they have done full penance for their sins.

105. 問: 我們也能救助煉靈麼？

     Ｑ: Can we help the souls in Purgatory?

     答: 定能救助，這是聖教會歷代所講的道理。

     Ａ: We can indeed help the souls in Purgatory, this has always been the teaching of the Catholic Church.

106. 問: 我們也該救助煉靈麼？

     Ｑ: Should we help the souls in Purgatory?

     答: 自然該當，因為煉靈受苦，不能自救，他們又是天主可愛的兒女，是我們理當親愛的。

     Ａ: We should certainly help the souls in Purgatory, because they cannot help themselves in their sufferings. They are beloved Children of God, and we should love them dearly.
