背景

「苦路善工」又稱「拜苦路」是仿效早期的朝聖者往耶路撒冷憑弔耶穌當年受難地方的敬禮。十七世紀時，方濟各會土聖利安納（St.Leonard of Port Maurice）大力宣傳拜苦路的敬禮。一七三一年，教宗格來孟十二世（Clement XII）正式確定十四處苦路，和對苦路的敬禮方式。 這十四處的事蹟，其中有些記載於四本福音中，有些則屬口傳。為方便教友，現在所有的聖堂幾乎都掛有十四處苦像。拜苦路前，教友可先作一個簡短的祈禱，或閱 讀福音中記載耶穌苦難始末，再在每一處苦像前默想基督受難被釘死的經過。

第一處：耶穌被判死刑
The First Station: Jesus is condemned to death.

第二處：耶穌肩負十字架
The Second Station: Jesus carries the Cross.

第三處：耶穌體力不支，第一次跌倒地上
The Third Station: Jesus falls for the first time.

第四處：耶穌遇見了自己的母親
The Fourth Station: Jesus Meets His Blessed Mother.

第五處：西滿負擔耶穌的刑具
The Fifth Station: Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry His Cross.

第六處：韋羅尼加為耶穌抹面
The Sixth Station: Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.

第七處：耶穌再次不支而倒地
The Seventh Station: Jesus falls for the second time.

第八處：婦女為耶穌痛哭
The Eighth Station: The women of Jerusalem mourn for Jesus.

第九處：耶穌第三次跌倒在地
The Ninth Station: Jesus falls for the third time.

第十處：耶穌被剝去衣裳
The Tenth Station: Jesus is stripped of His garments

第十一處：耶穌懸在十字架上
The Eleventh Station: Jesus is nailed to the Cross.

第十二處：耶穌在十字架上捨生
The Twelve Station: Jesus dies on the Cross.

第十三處：聖母懷抱耶穌
The Thirteen Station: Jesus is taken down from the Cross.

第十四處：耶穌被埋葬
The Fourteenth Station: Jesus is laid in the tomb.
